Sequence of steps before installation appointment is scheduled (with more explanations below):
- Send photos of the DOOR (not just the lock). Take inside, outside and side view and further away from the lock.
- Send measurement of distance between door and gate (if any)
- Decide on whether to replace existing lock-set or retain existing lock-set (use a small digital add-on lock)
- Decide if you strongly prefer fingerprint or RFID card access
Note that all models has pin number access as a standard. Not all fingerprints are great for scanning. - Choose a lock model (or a few) that you like
- Call us to
- Validate your requirements and choice of lock
- Arrange for an installation date and time
You can call us from step 3 onwards to discuss. Thanks!

Lock Requirements
If you are not sure of which digital lock model, here are the three main decisions you need to make
If you are not sure of which digital lock model, here are the three main decisions you need to make
- Replace or retain an existing lock-set
- Consider retaining an existing lock-set if it is relatively new - and install a small rim add-on lock such as a Gateman A20. The existing lock-set is retained for use as a door handle and the occasional double lock (eg. away on vacation).
- Consider replacing an existing lock-set if it is damaged with a similar large footprint lock such as Gateman WV100.
Tip: Using a small add-on lock may shave off half the cost of going digital lock. - Card or Fingerprint
All digital locks on this website comes with a pin number code access - this method is considered the most useful and consistent. Digital locks provides a card or fingerprint access as a secondary feature.
- Consider card if you have elderly or users with fingerprint whorls which are hard for all digital locks to scan. There is a reason why hotels are sticking to cards: consistency. Cards can be easily replaced.
- Consider fingerprint for that extra fun factor (than pin number code) but be prepared sometimes it won't work well depending on the users and state of the finger (eg. when wet) - Digital Lock Brand and other considerations
This is the easy part but should form the last decision (if needed at all). All else being equal:
- Gateman is well designed and built - and should last a long time with care and should be the default brand if the design has not won you over by now
- Pick a lock that is the simplest to operate and administer, and has the least parts - they tend to be the right lock over the long term
Door Fit
Take photos of the door from the inside and outside. If you have a metal gate in front, take a picture of that as well so we can look for possible obstructions in installations. Take relevant measurements and send all the information over WhatsApp.

InsTallation
Installation | Getting Prepared
The installer would require you to make some decisions (sometimes a major decision) during installation. Please plan to be around or delegate this responsibility to someone else. Installations are not reversible. Drilling and wood chips/dust is expected during installation. Drilling and woodwork is short for small rim lock installation and longer for big mortise lock installation.
Training | Usage
After installation, the installer will walk you through the basic operations of the lock including registering pin, cards and fingerprints. These locks are easy to set up and you can refer to the user guide for the instructions.
Payment | Methods and Invoicing
Payments can be made after installation via various methods (except credit cards). Payment can be in cash, cheque and electronic payments such as bank transfer, and via mobile apps such as Paylah, and Paynow << see this link here.
Our invoices and payment receipts are all electronic. You can provide us an email id for this purpose as well as the Bill-To Party. See this link on invoicing.
